The first web site career-advice briefly talks about the importance about knowing your portable skills. Gina was a good example because before writing her resume she wrote down her skills and what made her unique to the position. She mentioned two very important components previous experience and portable skills. In her previous experience she mentioned marketing knowledge, communications skills, vendor management, product development and computer skills. Her portable skills she mentioned communications, writing skills, very organized, good at coordinating and excellent follow-through.
The second web site leopardsolution  talks about three important portable skills that companies value: Decision-making skills, communication skills and problem-solving skills. These are important perspectives as you think about your career. For many companies the motto “if you are loyal to a company, the company will take care of you” does not apply, especially in today's market crash. Change did occur and now companies are looking for three important portable skills as mentioned in leopardsolution.
As we think about our career, portable skills play the ultimate role on being the candidate for the job. For many we all have used portable skills without even thinking about them. In my communications class we had many presentations from individual presentations to group presentations. This helped me build up my portable skills because whenever we had a task to present i worked on my communications skills, computer skills, problem solving, time management and when working in groups team leader, well organized, good attitude and creative. So we can see that portable skills can be utilized  in different jobs with different responsibilities, in a different industry.
