You Majored in What? CH 1 & 2

It happens to all of us with the question what do i do with my degree now? Where do i start? The book You Majored in What by Katharine Brooks, helps individuals perceive that its okay to get a job that is not related to your major. In the first chapter page 2, Katharine mentions "so it seems only logical that you would pursue a major that you would  pursue a major that would become your ultimate career. Business majors go into business. Engineering majors become engineers, philosophy majors become..?"
Times have changed and just because you have a major in art doesn't utilize on you becoming a cartoonist. Today you can take your major and apply it with new opportunities, for example your art degree can get you a job at the district attorney office. On page 9, "Unplanned events and emerging conditions changed this individuals circumstances", Katharine breaks down the butterfly effect that frequently in our lives small incident do occur that have a magnificent affect on our long term career. Just because people have a degree in Chemistry doesn't always mean they will become Veterinarian, or geography major doesn't guarantee you a job as a geography teacher. Just because we can predict the weather, doesn't mean we can predict our career. Katharine's book delivers the importance for us to understand that in life, there is unexpected events that will occur and we are not assured to end up finding a job with our degree major. Its okay to be lost in the chaos, but making sense of our chaos will help us identify our true path into our desired career.
